Description
India produced a spirited comeback to claim victory over Iran, a result that denied the hosts the point they needed to secure qualification. Iran struck first in the 19th minute through Amirreza Valipoor’s composed finish but India responded confidently, equalising from the spot when Dallalmuon Gangte converted after Heeranganba Seram was fouled. The turnaround was complete early in the second half as Gunleiba Wangkheirakpam punished a defensive mistake to fire India ahead. Despite Iran pushing forward in search of an equaliser, India held firm to earn a determined and well-deserved win. India finished level on seven points with Iran but advanced on the head-to-head ratio as they booked a fourth consecutive appearance at the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026.
