Despite entering the semifinal as the favourites, topping Group A undefeated and conceding no goals, Solomon Islands fell short in a dramatic comeback by New Caledonia. Leading 2-1 late in the second half, New Caledonia equalized with two minutes remaining in regulation time. Kapone Xulue then sealed the victory for New Caledonia with a goal in extra time.
