Description
The Solomon Islands reignited their semi-final hopes with a victory over Samoa in front of the home crowd. Despite a frustrating first half filled with missed opportunities and a resilient Samoan side that came close to scoring, the hosts finally broke the deadlock in the second half. A penalty kick from Junior Sam in the 57th minute opened the floodgates followed by two goals from Charles Daomae and another from Sam. The victory sets up a must-win showdown with defending champions New Zealand for a semi-final place and a chance to stay in contention for the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup while Samoa’s elimination was confirmed ahead of their final match against New Caledonia.
