The Cook Islands moved a step closer to progressing in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™ Oceania Qualifiers with a hard-earned victory over Tahiti, snatching the winner late despite spending much of the match under pressure. Tahiti dominated possession and generated several promising attacks, only to be denied repeatedly by an inspired performance from Cook Islands’ goalkeeper Rianna Pepe and a disciplined defensive unit. As the rain-soaked second half unfolded, the Cook Islands grew into the contest, threatening more consistently on the counter before Daniella Casey Poila and Tearoa Rouru finally broke the deadlock in the 79th minute, capitalising on a rebound to secure the decisive goal.
