Waikato Rapids quickly took control, scoring three goals within the first eight minutes through Benjamin Bordin, Casey Sharplin and Maxwell Ericksen. Although AS PTT managed to pull one back before halftime, Hemi Innes and Casey Sharplin's second goal quickly extended the Waikato Rapids' lead in the second half with the final score marking only the second-ever loss for AS PTT in the tournament's history.
