When Hidetoshi Nakata was growing up in the 1980s in Kofu, baseball was the most followed sport in the country. After playing baseball for a while, he fell in love with football thanks to manga series Captain Tsubasa and started dreaming of becoming a football player. But not even he could have expected that his dreams would allow him, at age 25, to play in the 2002 FIFA World Cup, held in his home country.
