Tonga closed their year on a high with a convincing comeback win over Tahiti in an international friendly, overturning an early setback to earn their second victory of 2025. Despite both sides entering the match short on confidence after early exits from FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™ Qualifying, Tahiti struck first through Kohai Mai inside nine minutes only for Tonga to respond swiftly as Loma McNeese chased down a long ball to level. After a quieter end to the first half in sweltering conditions, Tonga exploded after the break, with Loma McNeese’s stunning long-range strike and Sophiana Moala’s similarly well-placed finish putting the match out of reach within minutes of the restart. Tema Tonga added a late fourth to cap a dominant second-half display while Tahiti’s winless run continues into a sixth year as both nations now look to rebuild ahead of future international campaigns.
