Tahiti ended their campaign on a positive note with a win over American Samoa in the 7th-place play-off, securing their Championship status for next year. Anikua Nekrouf opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a sharp finish before American Samoa had a goal disallowed for a foul on goalkeeper Kalea Torohia. The second half saw Tahiti double their lead through Ravanui Warren’s spectacular long-range strike in the 55th minute as their defence held firm to deny American Samoa’s late push for a comeback.
