Though Southern Legions briefly took the lead through Kemly Lehi, Waikato Rapids unleashed a spectacular 125-second burst of three goals across the halftime break with Hemi Innes and Casey Sharplin turning the game on its head. The New Zealanders continued their ruthless form in the second half with Benjamin Bordin and Davis Vhavha extending the lead before Hemi Innes completed his brace with another long-range strike.
