Description

Ukraine edged New Zealand in a tightly contested friendly as part of the Canadian Shield tournament. After a goalless first half, Ukraine’s Oleksiy Hutsulyak opened the scoring in the 54th minute before Marko Stamenic equalised for the All Whites just five minutes later with a well-worked set piece. Ukraine regained the lead through substitute Oleksandr Zinchenko’s composed finish in the 75th minute. Despite late pressure and the introduction of Chris Wood, New Zealand couldn’t find another goal. The result gives Ukraine their first win of the tournament, while New Zealand finish their campaign with one win and one loss.
