New Caledonia has secured a spot in the final and qualified for the FIFA U-17 Men’s World Cup 2026 in Qatar following a thrilling penalty shootout victory over Fiji. The match ended 1-1 after regulation, with Fiji initially taking the lead in the 55th minute from a penalty converted by captain Maikah Dau. New Caledonia, however, responded 15 minutes later when Lenddy Wede scored the equalizer. The hero of the day was New Caledonia's goalkeeper and captain, Sylvain Ipeze, who made several key saves throughout the game and ultimately sealed the win by saving two penalties in the shootout, earning him the player of the match award.
