The Cook Islands opened their OFC U-19 Women’s Championship campaign with a narrow win over Tonga in Group A. A stunning first-half free kick from Metuamaru Arere proved the difference before injuries forced her and defender Hefrani Narsimullu off before halftime. Tonga pushed hard for an equalise striking the post late on but goalkeeper Cook Island’Kimberly Uini stood tall to secure the points.
